CRA’s $1,200 Extra Benefit for Low-Income Seniors: Who Gets It

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) sometimes gives low-income seniors extra perks or one-time payments to help with their money problems.

The benefit is for adults who don't make a lot of money. Qualifications depend on how much money you make. To see if you qualified, certain levels must be met.

You must have sent in your tax return for the relevant year. This is important because your tax return information is often used to decide if you are eligible.

If you are qualified, the CRA may often send you the benefit automatically based on the information in your tax return. Most of the time, you don't need to apply individually.

The CRA checks to see if you are eligible by looking at your tax return and other official records. To make this process easier, make sure your tax returns are correct and up to date.

For information about the benefit, such as how it will be given out and any steps you may need to take, keep an eye on official announcements from the CRA

If your financial situation changes or you need to change your contact information, you need to let the CRA know so that you can get any benefits you are entitled to.
