There are now welfare help programs run by the government. The Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is one of them. People can get help with their daily jobs and getting around with the PIP. But according to recent news, the DWP has made some big changes to programs that could help people.

There are a lot of freebies and programs that the DWP started. Some of these are capped water bills, blue badges, disability premiums, a Motability plan, free prescriptions, travel discounts, grants for disabled facilities, lower car taxes, and lower council taxes. The straight discounts worth £40,000 were set up by the DWP. The PIP has two parts: one that helps with movement and one that helps with daily living. The daily life part helps with daily tasks, and the mobility part helps with getting around. These parts make up two different rates.

The living component payment went up from £101.75, to £108.55, and the standards component payment went up from £68.10, to £72.65. The mobile component, on the other hand, went up from £71 to £75.75, and for standards, it went up from £26.90 to £28,000.

  • Blue Badge – A disabled badge is another name for it. The badge can be seen on a car’s window. This makes it harder to get some parking permits. People who have them might get a discount on parking on the street.
  • Capped Water Bills – This makes it easier to pay the water bill. If someone in the household has a medical condition that needs them to use a lot of water, the household can get help paying their bills.
  • Free Prescriptions – People with certain medical conditions, like cancer, diabetes, and others, can get free prescriptions if they apply for a medical exemption permit (MedEx).
  • Toll Roads –  Toll road programs for the most part give disabled people a discount. It has the tunnels, bridges, and water crossings.
  • Transport Discounts – People with disabilities can save money on transportation with a bus pass. But these passes are given out by city governments. So, the people who will benefit need to get in touch with the local government to find out more about how to take the bus in their area.

People who are eligible also get a discount on their vehicle tax, a Motability scheme, a discount on their council tax, and disability premiums and grants. In order to get more information, people must visit the official DWP website.
